Job summary

Kearsley Community Schools is hiring a 6-12 Literacy Specialist to enhance literacy instruction across grades 6-12, aligned with Michigan's K-12 Literacy and Dyslexia Law. This role involves collaboration with district staff and teachers to improve student engagement and academic performance through effective literacy practices.

The successful candidate will lead professional development efforts, support curriculum alignment, and coach secondary teachers on evidence-based literacy interventions. This position requires strong leadership and communication skills, alongside a commitment to supporting at-risk students.

Qualifications

• Experience using MTSS framework to provide appropriate interventions.
• Leader willing to facilitate professional development for colleagues.
• Knowledgeable in evidence-based intervention approaches.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and systems support for literacy instruction.
• Lead development of IRIPs in accordance with Michigan law.
• Teach secondary intervention instructional programming daily.
