Job summary

The Sanborn Regional School District is seeking a Reading Specialist for Grades 6–12 to support literacy across the secondary schools, providing targeted intervention and collaborating with teachers to strengthen evidence-based literacy practices.

The role emphasizes adolescent literacy, data analysis, MTSS participation, and communication with families and staff to improve literacy outcomes district-wide.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Valid New Hampshire certification/licensure appropriate to the position, or eligibility for New Hampshire certification.
• Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based reading instruction and intervention practices.
• Experience working with middle and/or high school students.
• Strong knowledge of literacy development, reading comprehension, vocabulary, fluency, and adolescent literacy.
• Ability to analyze student assessment data and use data to inform instruction and intervention.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide targeted, evidence-based reading intervention to students in Grades 6–12.
• Identify students requiring additional literacy support through assessment data, teacher referral, MTSS processes, and other relevant measures.
• Develop and implement individualized or small-group literacy interventions based on student needs.
• Monitor student progress regularly and adjust interventions based on data.
• Support students in developing strategies for reading comprehension, vocabulary development, fluency, close reading, and understanding increasingly complex texts.
• Help students develop literacy skills necessary for success across academic content areas.
• Maintain accurate records of intervention services, student progress, and instructional data.
