Job summary

Philip's Academy Charter School of Paterson is seeking a 5th Grade Level Science Teacher. The ideal candidate holds a NJ State K-6 certificate, has a bachelor's in education, and is committed to rigorous, hands-on learning.

You will lead direct instruction, collaborate with grade partners, engage families, and contribute to a supportive, tech-infused environment. This role includes supervising lunch/recess and supporting co-curricular activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field required; advanced degree in education a plus.
• Hold a valid NJ State K-6 Teacher Certification or other K-12 science certification.
• 1-2 years teaching experience is preferred.
• Commitment to ensuring academic success for all students.

• Excellent teamwork, work ethic, and organizational skills.
• Communicate effectively in English; bilingual is a plus.
• Possess integrity and strong character; initiative encouraged.
• Demonstrate technological abilities: word processing, data management, and information retrieval.
• Submit a background check through the New Jersey Department of Education.
• Be CPR, First Aid, and Blood Borne Pathogen certified or obtain certification upon hire.
• Complete tuberculosis test and physical with physician documentation.
• Be able to kneel, bend, squat, lift, push, pull, and carry students up to 70lbs.

Responsibilities

• Lead direct instruction in the classroom for whole groups, small groups, and individuals.
• Collaborate with grade level partners to implement a strong, engaging curriculum.
• Communicate effectively with families to ensure home-school consistency.
• Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning.
• Provide supervision during recess, lunch, and hallway; support co-curricular activities.
• Other duties may be assigned at any time by the Principal.
