Philip's Academy Charter School of Paterson is seeking a 5th Grade Level Science Teacher to lead instruction, collaborate with grade partners, and foster a technology-infused learning environment that supports individualized attention.

The candidate should hold NJ State K-6 certification or equivalent, have a Bachelor's in Education, 1–2 years of teaching experience, and a commitment to academic excellence and strong communication with families.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education or related field required; advanced degree is a plus.
• Hold a valid NJ State K-6 Teacher Certification or other K-12 science certification.
• 1–2 years teaching experience preferred.
• Commitment to ensuring academic success for all students.
• Demonstrate strong morals, integrity and collaboration.
• Be able to complete required background checks and safety trainings.

Nature and Scope of Job: Under the supervision of the Principal, the 5th Grade Level Science Teacher will be the instructional leader of their classroom. The teacher will create, manage, and participate in a variety of learning environments and activities that enhance student development and mastery of learning objectives. Philip's teachers participate in extensive professional development, collaborate with other faculty and staff, promote rigorous learning opportunities, and look out for the collective and individual interests of Philip's students as well as the schools' greater community.

Responsibilities

• Lead direct instruction in the classroom for whole groups, small groups, and individual students.
• Work cooperatively with grade level partners and additional staff to implement a strong, engaging, integrated and appropriate curriculum.
• Communicate effectively and collaborate with families to ensure consistency between home and school in order to promote student success.
• Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning.
• Maintain ongoing professional development.
• Support during other times of the day, including but not limited to teaching a co-curricular and providing supervision during recess, lunch, and hallway.
• Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice from the Principal.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field required; advanced degree in education a plus.
• Hold a valid NJ State K-6 Teacher Certification or other K-12 science certification (i.e., Biological Science, chemistry, earth science, physical science and general science.)
• 1-2 years teaching experience is preferred.
• Commitment to ensuring academic success for all students.

• Excellent teamwork, work ethic, and organizational skills.
• Communicate effectively in English, both orally and verbally. Being bilingual is a plus.
• Possess excellent integrity, a gentle spirit, and demonstrate strong moral character and initiative.
• Demonstrate technological abilities: word processing, data management, and informational retrieval.
• Maintain ongoing professional development.
• Submit a background check through the New Jersey Department of Education.
• Be CPR, First Aid, and Blood Borne Pathogen certified or obtain certification upon hire.
• Complete a Tuberculosis test and physical and provide a physician's documentation of both.
• Be able to kneel, bend, squat, lift, push, pull, and carry students up to 70lbs.
• Have dependable transportation.

Salary Range: $60,000 - $65,000

Evaluation Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the board's policy on evaluation.
