Qualifications

• Valid NJ instructional certificate and endorsement or eligibility.
• Knowledge of effective teaching methods and developmentally appropriate activities.
• Ability to maintain a positive learning environment.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or residency status.
• Residency in NJ or plan to obtain residency within one year.
• 1–2 years teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develops lesson plans and classroom learning activities.
• Works to achieve the New Jersey Student Learning Standards and district goals by promoting active learning with a board-adopted curriculum.
• Provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
• Sets specific objectives in lesson preparation and weekly plans and delivers them.
• Plans class activities and presentations that meet the needs and abilities of all pupils.
• Maintains instruction, pupil contact, and progress monitoring.
• Maintains records of pupil progress and summarizes marks for reporting.
• Identifies pupil needs and provides instruction accordingly.
• Establishes and maintains appropriate pupil behavior standards.
• Manages class time efficiently.
• Creates assignments and tests requiring analytical thinking and factual reproduction.
• Communicates with parents to inform about the school program and pupil progress.
• Utilizes community resources to enhance instruction.
• Cooperates with staff to address learning problems.
• Maintains professional competence and pursues ongoing development.
• Participates in school planning, meetings and committees.
