Job summary

Arlington County Government's Department of Parks & Recreation is seeking multiple 55+ Recreation Assistant IVs to support Senior Adult Programs. The positions are part-time daytime roles traveling to community centers to assist with 55+ programming and center operations.

Responsibilities include registration, record keeping, event support, customer service, marketing materials, and coordination with the Senior Center Director and Office of 55+ Programs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent; and considerable experience administering recreational programs including experience leading or supervising.
• Substitution: some college coursework may be substituted for experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist with on-site program registration, membership renewals, class sign-up, record keeping, and recording of fees.
• Maintain accurate participant and administrative records using Microsoft Office products.
• Assist with planning and implementing special events, setting up rooms for activities and maintaining inventory.
• Monitor facility spaces for issues and availability and preparing work orders as needed.
• Provide customer service to participants enrolling in 55+ programs and classes throughout Arlington County.
• Respond to questions from current and potential participants about resources available to seniors.
• Assist with writing, producing, and distributing marketing materials, including the 55+ Guide, center newsletter, calendars, and flyers.
