Job summary

The Dunwoody Village Recreation Department is seeking a part-time Recreation Assistant to design and run group and individual recreation programs for residents in our Care Center. You will help residents enjoy activities that promote cognitive, emotional, and social well-being.

Key duties include planning activities (exercise, games, arts/crafts), informing residents of events, escorting them to programs, and maintaining attendance records. Weekend/holiday rotations are required.

Qualifications

• High School graduate.
• Proficient in using Microsoft Word, Office, Facetime, and iTunes.
• Able to read aloud to a group and/or individuals.
• Demonstrates good judgment, problem solving and decision-making skills.
• Organization & time management skills.
• Able to work independently and with supervision.
• Cheerfulness, positive attitude and ability to motivate people.
• Genuine liking and respect for the elderly and those with impairments.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop and implement group recreation programs.
• Inform Residents of daily events and escort to group programs.
• Identify residents' abilities and tailor programs accordingly.
• Maintain a daily record of resident participation.
• Assist Manager in evaluating program effectiveness and participation levels.
