POSITION SUMMARY
Operates the Strander and Jacket Line consistently meeting Hendrix’s quality and productivity requirements in a safe manner with minimum scrap.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Key Responsibilities:
Comply with company safety protocols at all times, ensuring a safe working environment for self and others.
Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and organized manner.
Demonstrate professionalism, punctuality, and reliability.
Mechanically set up strander and jacket lines, including pay-offs and take-up operations. Install appropriate tooling and auxiliary line equipment as needed to produce various cable designs per Engineering Specifications.
Monitor raw material supply continuously to avoid production interruptions.
Perform measurements using company-approved calibrated devices to ensure product meets required specifications.
Generate product identification tags and maintain accurate records, including work center line quality documentation as required by Hendrix.
Visually inspect neutral spools for damaged wires and perform cold welds of bare neutral wires to maintain uninterrupted spool operation.
Responsible for scrapping remaining copper from unloaded spools using a Sweed chopper.
Conduct head clean-ups and screw pulls as needed or according to the maintenance schedule.
Assist with terminating jacketed cable for electrical testing, when applicable.
Successfully complete and maintain Forklift Safety Training certification.
Take corrective actions to maintain and ensure product quality.
Actively participate in scheduled team meetings and contribute to ongoing process improvements.
Solid understanding of basic extrusion line operations, including associated components and processes.
Experience with the operation of pay-off and take-up equipment.
Proficient in using industry-standard tools and measuring devices.
Knowledge of finished product identification and tagging.
Skilled in the assembly, disassembly, and cleaning of extruder heads and auxiliary vertical extruders.
Familiar with extruder screw selection and installation.
Understanding of compound conveyor systems, dryers, and related equipment.
Competent in managing temperature, air, and water controls, as well as power switches.
Experience in loading and unloading neutral spools.
Knowledge of the principles of cold welding and crimp connections.
Operation of Powder Applicators (e.g., Waterblock powder), when applicable.
Strong mechanical aptitude with a proven ability to work with hands-on processes and equipment.
Proficient in reading micrometers and precision measurement tools.
Capable of performing basic shop arithmetic.
Able to read and follow written instructions accurately.
Effective verbal and written communication skills for team coordination.
Strong troubleshooting abilities for identifying and solving line issues.
High attention to detail and ability to maintain focus during repetitive tasks.
Basic computer literacy for data entry and simple digital tasks.
Able to work effectively within a team environment.
