Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a 4th Grade Long-Term Substitute to cover classes at Orchard View Cardinal Elementary School. The role requires a Michigan teaching certificate and ability to follow district curricula and state requirements.

The substitute will write and implement curricula as needed, participate in district committee work, and collaborate with staff to deliver effective instruction. Prior teaching experience is desirable, with flexibility for added duties.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Michigan teaching certificate or be in the process of obtaining it.
• Endorsement is recommended but not required.

Responsibilities

• Follow district and state curricula and assessment requirements.
• Maintain effective ratings in performance evaluations.
• Develop and implement curricular direction across varied subjects.
• Participate in building and district committees to develop curricular guidelines.
• Collaborate with staff to support instructional effectiveness.
• Recent teaching experience is desirable.
• Use technology as a teaching tool and pursue training to enhance instruction.
• Apply cooperative learning and differentiated instruction strategies.
• Support higher-order thinking skills development.
• Incorporate writing processes and expository writing to enhance learning.
• Pursue interdisciplinary approaches to instructional outcomes.
• Follow all Board policies and building regulations.
• Willingness to perform other duties as directed by the principal or special education administrator.

POSITION: Long-term substitute for 4th grade Teacher

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ø Must possess a valid Michigan teaching certificate or in process of obtaining
• Ø The endorsement is recommended but not required

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ø Must follow district and state curricula and assessment requirements
• Ø Must have effective rating in most recent performance evaluation (formal or informal)
• Ø Knowledge of current curriculum trends and ability to write and develop new curricular direction in varied subject areas
• Ø Input/participation in building and district committee structure to develop new curricular guidelines for all ages
• Ø Commitment to work effectively with fellow staff members
• Ø Recent teaching experience desirable
• Ø Knowledge of technology as instruction tools or willingness to become knowledgeable through independent training as soon as possible and commitment to use same regularly to enhance instruction effectiveness
• Ø Knowledge of, and ability to implement cooperative learning strategies and differentiated instruction on a regular basis
• Ø Knowledge of an ability to implement higher order thinking skill development on a regular basis
