Job summary

IDEA Public Schools is seeking an IDEA Academy teacher to ensure students master academics and social skills for college success, embodying IDEA values daily. You will set ambitious goals, plan rigorous instruction, assess mastery, analyze data, and intervene to adjust teaching; academy core subjects are state assessed in grades 3–5.

The role includes after-school duties and tutoring as needed. Compensation includes starting salary of $59,500 with stipends based on certifications and leadership,

Qualifications

• High level content-area proficiency evidenced by teaching certification, field of study, or work-experience (strongly preferred).
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution (required).
• Experience in a K-12 classroom setting (preferred).
• Licenses or Certifications: TEA Reading Academies for K-3 or willingness to obtain TX training; bilingual certification strongly preferred, ESL certification preferred (not required).

Responsibilities

• Implement state learning standards and IDEA curricula and assessments to meet ambitious academic expectations.
• Submit weekly lesson plans two weeks in advance for feedback.
• Implement formal and informal assessments to track each student’s progress and adjust plans.
• Communicate students’ progress with students and families weekly.
• Use technology as a communication and educational tool to enhance achievement and manage tasks.
• Establish a clear behavior management system aligned to campus initiatives.
• Foster a school-wide culture that supports productive learning for every student.
• Host tutoring sessions as needed and participate in meetings and duties.
• Engage in ongoing district and professional development.
• Commit to 40+ hours at school per week.
