Job summary

Southwest YMCA in Greenfield, WI seeks a Lead Teacher for an early learning program. The role is full-time, year-round with a shift to camp duties in the summer, paying $21.00–$23.00 hourly. You will lead lesson planning, ensure safety, and collaborate with families and school partners.

Responsibilities include supervising the 4K Wrap Care program, maintaining records, and modeling YMCA core values while delivering developmentally appropriate activities for diverse children.

Qualifications

• Must be 18+ and have 240 hours of experience in an approved education setting.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• DCF-approved courses in early childhood education or school-age growth and development, or an Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree in education, or a credential.
• Minimum 240 hours of related experience working with children in an approved setting.
• Must obtain CPR, First Aid, AED, Abusive Head Trauma, Mandated Reporter, and Wisconsin Registry certifications within the required time frame.
• Ability to relate positively to diverse populations and environments.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Uphold YMCA core values of caring, respect, honesty and responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans and engage a group of children daily.
• Serve as on-site supervisor of the 4K Wrap Care program and model professional behavior.
• Manage materials and ensure quality of supplies and equipment.
• Develop positive relationships with staff, families, and children; conduct parent conferences and handle complaints.
• Collaborate with local school district staff to align programming with district values and policies.
• Maintain participant records and documentation per department requirements.
• Ensure safety and cleanliness of learning spaces and classrooms.
• Follow emergency procedures and communicate concerns to supervisor as needed.
• Uphold YMCA values in all interactions and duties.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings; perform other duties as assigned.
