Job summary

Michigan State University Extension seeks a Presque Isle 4-H Program Coordinator to lead growth and management of local 4-H programs, volunteers, and youth participants. In collaboration with CYI and supervisory staff, you will align activities with MSU Extension goals and ensure effective volunteer recruitment and training.

You will develop partnerships with schools and community groups, promote 4-H visibility, and expand programs to unreached youth including diverse communities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience in program development and management in 4-H or other youth development program.
• Volunteer management and experience supervising volunteers or of others.
• Combination of education and specific, relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
• Demonstrated success in program development and delivery to audiences/communities representative of the communities we serve and proven ability in establishing and working with a network of constituents across diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to demonstrate sensitivity, knowledge, and use of appropriate approaches for diverse communities and perspectives.
• Experience working productively with a team serving in both leadership and contributor roles.

Responsibilities

• Train 4-H volunteers to engage communities through non-formal learning experiences.
• Build partnerships with schools and community groups to reach youth via multiple delivery methods.
• Attend 4-H Leaders’ Council meetings and coordinate with volunteers and program committees.
• Provide leadership to local volunteer management, including recruitment, training, and support.
• Collaborate with MSU Extension leadership to implement educational priorities across the state and within communities.
• Operate independently to meet county goals for youth reach and program quality.
• Plan, organize, and evaluate youth development programs relevant to Presque Isle County.
