Job summary

MSU Extension's Children & Youth Institute seeks a Schoolcraft County-based 4-H Program Coordinator to lead local 4-H youth development, recruit and train volunteers, and expand partnerships with schools and community groups. The role emphasizes inclusion, program evaluation, and collaboration with the District Director and Institute leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience in program development and management in 4-H or other youth development program.
• Volunteer management and experience supervising volunteers or of others.
• Combination of education and specific, relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
• Demonstrated success in program development and delivery to audiences/communities representative of the communities we serve.
• Ability to demonstrate sensitivity, knowledge, and use of appropriate approaches for varied backgrounds.
• Experience and proven ability working productively with a team in leadership roles.
• Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with Zoom, Qualtrics, MS Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Train 4-H volunteers to reach youth, adults, and families with learning experiences.
• Build partnerships with schools and community groups to reach youth.
• Attend Leaders’ Council meetings and coordinate volunteers and projects.
• Provide leadership to local volunteer management and annual metrics.
• Collaborate with staff to align MSU Extension priorities with state and community needs.
• Operate independently to meet goals for youth outreach locally and statewide.
• Conduct needs assessments to plan, organize, and evaluate youth programs.
• Oversee county 4-H finances and grant-related funds.
• Support diversity, inclusion, and Civil Rights efforts in programming.
