Job summary

The City of Sioux City is seeking an Underground Utilities Supervisor to lead crews responsible for water distribution, storm and sanitary sewer lines. The role focuses on efficient, safe project execution and effective daily supervision under the Utilities Superintendent.

The ideal candidate will have strong supervisory experience, relevant public works background, and a high school diploma or GED. Positions require CDL, DNR water distribution certificates, and a willingness to work on rotating

Qualifications

• Supervises and evaluates work of subordinate staff; assigns personnel and enforces safety and procedures.
• Ability to manage budgets, timesheets, and crew reports.
• Understanding of water/sewer/storm infrastructure and maintenance practices.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily work and coordinate tasks across crews.
• Ensure safety standards and OSHA compliance on all sites.
• Maintain records, schedules, and equipment usage for projects.
• Oversee pipe laying, trenching, backfilling, and inspection activities.
• Liaise with engineering and regulatory bodies and assist asset management systems.
