Job summary

The City of Sioux City seeks an Underground Utilities Supervisor to oversee daily operations of water distribution, storm and sanitary sewer systems. You will manage staff, schedule maintenance, and ensure safety compliance across projects.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, two years of supervisory experience, and licensure for CDL and Iowa water distribution certificates (Grade I/II) within set timelines.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or GED and supervisory experience in public works, maintenance or construction.
• CDL with airbrake endorsements required or obtainable within six months.
• Licenses in water distribution (Grade I/II) to be obtained within specified timeframes.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and evaluate the work of subordinate staff and manage personnel actions.
• Ensure staff is trained in proper operation of equipment and materials.
• Oversee maintenance and construction of water/sewer mains, manholes, valves and hydrants.
• Maintain operating budgets, time sheets, crew reports and asset records in Silversmith.
• Assign work orders, determine priorities and adjust schedules as needed.
• Coordinate emergency maintenance and liaise with engineering and regulatory personnel.
