Job summary

Leads and supervises crews in the construction and reconstruction of water distribution, wastewater collection, streets, alleys, and drainage systems. Ensures materials and equipment arrive on site, maintains safety, and documents daily progress for city records.

Requires strong supervision, ability to read plans, and experience with utility construction. Must meet licensing and CDL requirements as specified.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required; Texas Class A CDL within 6 months.
Must hold Class II Wastewater and Class C Water Distribution licenses or obtain within one year.
Minimum 1 year experience in construction/maintenance of water distribution and wastewater systems; supervising crews.
Ability to read and interpret drawings, plans and specifications; follow oral and written directions.

Responsibilities

Supervise and evaluate a crew; train and discipline subordinates.
Construct and maintain water and sewer mains, streets, alleys, and drainage systems.
Install large diameter water meters and two-way clean-outs; build manholes.
Operate and supervise equipment; ensure safety and proper tool use.
Prepare daily reports and communicate with city staff and the public.
