Job summary

ABB’s NEMA Motors Division is seeking a Tool and Die Maker for the 3rd shift to repair, build and maintain stamping dies, read blueprints and CAD drawings, and ensure quality while adhering to safety standards.

You will set up machines, measure with calipers and micrometers, support continuous improvement programs, and enter data into SAP. At ABB, you join a global leader with strong benefits and opportunities to grow.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical education preferred.
• Minimum 5 years as Tool & Die Maker with stamping dies experience.
• Strong metalworking skills and ability to read blueprints and CAD drawings.
• Proficiency with precision measurement tools and fixtures.
• Strong collaboration and communication with engineers and machinists.

Responsibilities

• Reading and interpreting blueprints, design schematics and CAD drawings.
• Visualizing and computing metal shapes and tolerances.
• Design jigs and templates for fabrication.
• Setting up drills, lathes, grinders and milling machines.
• Cutting and shaping blocks to specified dimensions.
• Grinding carbide and steel for a smooth finish.
• Assemble/disassemble tools and dies to ensure on-time repairs.
• Inspect tools/dies for defects, perform repairs and test runs.
• Support continuous improvement programs (5S/KAIZEN).
• Support tooling efficiency and scrap-reduction projects.
• Follow SOPs for Die Repairs and enter data into SAP.
