Job summary

Linamar Corporation is seeking a Shift Superintendent to lead all manufacturing functions on the assigned shift in Michigan. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will drive production goals, oversee schedules, and ensure safety with strict adherence to policies.

Ideal candidates have a strong automotive background, proven supervisory experience, and the ability to translate goals into actionable plans. Bachelor's degree preferred; a high school diploma is required.

Qualifications

  • Strong manufacturing background, preferably in automotive.
  • Supervisory experience required; capable of directing multiple departments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to translate goals into actionable plans and tasks.
  • Ability to take initiative, maintain confidentiality, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret data and guide decisions.
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Plex familiarity is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and communicate production goals for the shift.
  • Review production schedules to maximize throughput and efficiency.
  • Establish goals, performance targets, and standards for production.
  • Maintain discipline within production and motivate supervisors and staff.
  • Chair shift cross-functional meetings between departments.
  • Lead staff meetings and review key metrics for the shift.
  • Develop and analyze production data and respond to plant reports.
  • Collaborate with HR on staffing and manning issues.
  • Provide direction, mentoring, and leadership to direct reports.
  • Conduct performance reviews and ensure a safe work environment.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Shift Superintendent is responsible for managing and directing all manufacturing functions in accordance with customer requirements, company policies and procedures on their assigned shift.

Responsibility
  • Responsible for coordination and communication of production goals.
  • Review production schedules and ensure maximized throughput and efficiency.
  • Establish goals, performance targets, and performance standards for the production function.
  • Ensure accountability and discipline within the production departments and other departments; motivate supervisors and employees to achieve peek productivity and performance.
  • Chair shift cross functional meetings between departments.
  • Lead meetings: staff, operations, key metrics, requiring production representation on assigned shift.
  • Develop and analyze production and react to plant reports.
  • Interact with all functional groups.
  • Work with HR on manning issues and staffing.
  • Provides direction, development, mentorship, and leadership to direct reports.
  • Conduct performance reviews on direct reports.
  • Promote, monitor , and ensure a safe work environment.
  • Comply with all safety and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Participate in special projects as needed or assigned by the manager .
  • Maintain a clean, organized facility.
Academic/Educational Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, management or related field preferred or combination of education and experience.
Required Skills/Experience
  • Strong manufacturing background – automotive industry experience preferred.
  • Supervisory experience is required .
  • Excellent communication skills – writing, speaking, listening, and observing .
  • Ability to understand goals and objectives and convert them into action plans, tasks, initiatives, and activities that ensure success.
  • The ability to take initiative, to maintain confidentiality, to meet deadlines, and to work in a team environment is essential.
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to gather, interpret and analyze information , and provide clear direction.
  • PC-based computing experience word processing-Word, spreadsheet-Excel, presentation- PowerPoint, Plex.
