Job summary

PPG's Solventborne Plant seeks a Production Supervisor to manage hourly union associates on the 3rd shift and coordinate daily work with staffing, equipment, and materials in a chemical-processing setting.

The role requires safety adherence, process control, and hands-on leadership on the plant floor, guiding cross-functional teams including QA, planning, engineering, and maintenance to achieve production goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in manufacturing supervisory roles.
• Knowledge of safety protocols and quality control measures.
• Understanding of production scheduling and resource management.
• Experience with Lean Methodology, process improvement initiatives, and 5S practices.

Responsibilities

• Manage hourly employees, approximately ten hourly employees.
• Coordinate production activities within the department on all shifts, ensuring cross-department needs are met and plant goals are achieved.
• Maintain contact with Quality Assurance, Operations Planning, Engineering, and Maintenance.
• Ensure product quality specifications are met, raw materials are available, and equipment and facility maintenance is completed.
• Work with the team to implement changes in job methods, operational improvements, and safety practices.
• Support safety, TPM, and continuous improvement programs, including employee safety, training, and mentoring.
• Be on production floor at least 75% of the working day for hands-on leadership and problem solving.
