Job summary

General Motors Company is seeking a Shift Leader-Production for the 3rd shift in Bay City, MI. The role involves supervising a medium to large group of salaried and hourly employees across multiple departments, focusing on safety, quality, cost, and environment (SPQRCE).

You will lead lean initiatives and drive production schedules in a onsite setting in Bay City, Michigan. The candidate should have a minimum of 5 years of frontline supervisory experience or a Bachelor’s degree with equivalent

Qualifications

• 5 yrs of experience as a front line supervisor
• Bachelor’s Degree or a minimum of 5 yrs equivalent experience
• Understanding of basic mechanical concepts
• Knowledge of quality control procedures, manufacturing processes and management systems as they relate to production operations
• Highly developed oral and written communications skill
• High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with the plant’s business partners, union workforce, and supply base
• High Level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a medium to large group of salaried employees across multiple departments/processes.
• Meet or exceed production cost schedule and maintain quality requirements.
• Promote safe work practices and achieve objectives for ergonomics, health and safety.
• Coach, teach, counsel and mentor group leaders in responsibilities.
• Lead start of shift and end of shift meetings and provide carryover to the next shift.
• Drive process discipline to achieve goals.
• Assist in obtaining resources to effectively perform operations.
