Job summary

O'Neal Steel is hiring a Machine Operator for the Birmingham, AL facility on the non-thermal 3rd shift. The role involves setting up and operating non-thermal processing equipment such as saws, shears, press brakes, rollers, and digi-benders, plus handling materials with forklifts and cranes.

You will read blueprints, use precision measuring tools, and ensure high-quality output for internal and external customers.

Qualifications

• Ability to operate a variety of non-thermal processing equipment including, but not limited to, saws, shears, press brakes, rollers, and digi-benders.
• Ability to operate a wide variety of material handling equipment including, but not limited to, forklift, overhead crane, stacker crane, side loader, yard dog, etc.
• Ability to read and interpret simple blueprints.
• Ability to use measuring tools such as: tape measure, box caliper, slide dial caliper, and micrometer.
• Ability to convert fractions to decimals and vice versa, add and subtract in fractions and decimals.
• Responsible for providing high quality work to all internal and external customers as related to the output of their position.

Responsibilities

• Following all safety guidelines and wearing all required personal protective equipment.
• Set up and operate a variety of non-thermal processing equipment; saw, shear, press brake, roller, digi-bender, etc.
• Operate a wide variety of material handling equipment, forklift, overhead crane, stacker crane, side loader, yard dog, etc.
• Read and interpret blueprints and following work instructions.
• Use measuring tools such as tape measure, box caliper, slide dial caliper, and micrometer.
• Convert fractions to decimals and vice versa, add and subtract fractions and decimals.
• Provide high quality work to all internal and external customers as related to the output of their position.
