Job summary

Prairie Farms Dairy is seeking an experienced Maintenance Mechanic for the 3rd shift in O'Fallon, IL. The role requires diagnosing mechanical problems, maintaining processing and packaging equipment, and coordinating with Operations to maximize plant reliability.

Strong electrical knowledge and experience with PLCs and ammonia refrigeration are a plus. The job offers full-time status with union involvement and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge a plus
• Experience with PLCs and ammonia refrigeration preferred
• Ability to pass post-offer drug test, alcohol screening and physical exam

Responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical problems quickly and reference blueprints, repair/owner manuals, engineering specifications, and parts catalogs as necessary.
• Maintain processing equipment, perform pipe fitting, welding, fabrication, carpentry; repair electrical or mechanical equipment; install equipment.
• Adjust and repair packaging equipment as needed and perform routine preventive maintenance on all equipment.
• Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
• Interface with Operations to minimize downtime and maximize plant reliability.
• Work with Outside Contractors and Plant Operations to ensure maintenance activities are completed safely and efficiently.
• Other responsibilities as requested.
