Location: Waukesha
Employment Type: Hourly
Shift: Third

Position Summary:

Repairs and maintains machinery, mechanical equipment, and systems in both the DSM, Margarine/Oil. Utilizes skill set to support Production Machine Operators, increasing skill levels within the department. Aims to decrease equipment downtime through training and skills, and maintains optimal operating conditions of equipment using company-approved food safety practices and policies.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Performs corrective and emergency maintenance on food packaging/processing equipment to maximize machine uptime.
2. Completes scheduled preventative maintenance and work orders to increase asset lifespan.
3. Troubleshoots and resolves minor equipment mechanical/electrical issues.
4. Rebuilds pumps, mills, gearboxes, and other mechanical components.
5. Assists Production Machine Operators in troubleshooting equipment problems.
6. Supports production changeovers and machine setups to enhance skill levels within the department.
7. Handles miscellaneous projects and duties within the maintenance department.
8. Supports the SQF Program and promotes food safety.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Ability to perform duties of a Production Machine Technician. Skills in minor AC/DC electrical troubleshooting, basic mechanical applications, part identification, and lubrication. At least 2 years of experience in a food manufacturing plant, with knowledge in at least two areas: packaging equipment, processing equipment, HVAC, or hydraulic systems.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Demonstrates mechanical competency and supports equipment work.
• Operates and troubleshoots basic packaging equipment.
• Basic electrical skills.
• Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint.
• Proficient in JDE, with ability to manage work orders.
• Uses hand/power tools and shop equipment.
• Understands GMP and related food manufacturing policies.
• Knowledge of safety programs like LOTO and confined space entry.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and follow instructions.

Physical Demands:

Requires physical strength and dexterity, including sitting, standing, walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Occasionally lifting/moving up to 50+ pounds with assistance.

Work Environment:

Shifts typically 8-12 hours. May include extra hours, weekends. Must wear PPE. May involve outdoor work, extreme temperatures, exposure to chemicals, fumes, allergens, confined spaces, and heights over 18 feet.
