Job summary

Tyson Foods is seeking a Maintenance Generalist to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain equipment while ensuring safety and adherence to Tyson policies. The role includes documenting actions taken, handling breakdowns, and supporting other mechanics as needed.

Location is Alabama with a 3rd shift schedule. The candidate should be able to perform electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, operate equipment, and comply with biosecurity guidelines. Training will be provided as required.

Qualifications

• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical malfunctions on equipment.
• Prepare written documentation of actions taken to correct problems.
• Respond to mechanical or electrical breakdowns and manage emergencies.
• Perform preventive maintenance according to the schedule.
• Comply with lockout/tagout, confined space, and safety programs.
• Operate equipment before startup and after shutdown.
• Assist other mechanics as needed.
• Be willing to work in damp, cold or hot environments.
• Must wear PPE and pass trainings.

Job Details:Maintenance Generalist are responsible for but not limited to:Troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all equipment and company assets while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.Provide troubleshooting and repair of any mechanical malfunctionPrepare written documentation of actions taken to correct equipment problemsResponds to mechanical or electrical breakdowns and handle emergency situationsLubricate equipment with various grease and oilsPerform preventive maintenance according to scheduleComplete appropriate paperwork and reportsMust comply with lockout/ tagout, confined space, and all other safety programsMust be able to perform mechanical and basic electrical trouble shooting and repairsAble to perform diagnosis and repairs without supervisionCapable of starting all equipment before production startup and shutdown without supervisionAbility to assist with other mechanics as neededPerform janitorial services if neededPerform other duties as assignedWork in temperature that will vary with outside ambient temperatures and humidity. It can be dusty, warm, and humid.Must be willing to complete all required training for the job and perform any other duties assigned.REQUIREMENTS:• Must have a minimum of 2 years of Maintenance experience or graduate of Industrial Maintenance Training program or combination of experience and education to meet the 2 year requirement.Must list job experience related to work history\\ history, skills, and education information on application.Good interpersonal and communication skills are criticalThis position will require standing, walking, bending, stretching, climbing, pushing, pulling, stooping and the ability to climb ladders.Position may involve heavy lifting 50-70 lbs. or more.Must be willing to work in damp, cold or hot environments, reach above shoulder level.Must be able to perform all duties of the positionBe willing to stand 8- 10 hours a day.Must wear PPE, ear protection (plugs or muffs), hair net and beard guard.Must have or be able to obtain Tyson operator’s license for pallet jack or forklift, if necessaryAbility to understand technical mechanical conceptsExcellent communication skillsStrong organization skillsThe successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.Biosecurity/Animal Welfare/Safety Requirements:· The jobsite is a biosecure environment and could require showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility.
