Job summary

Tyson Foods is seeking a Maintenance Generalist for the 3rd shift in the United States. The role involves troubleshooting, maintaining, repairing equipment, and ensuring a safe work environment in line with Tyson policies.

The successful candidate will perform preventive maintenance, document actions, handle breakdowns, and comply with safety programs, PPE requirements, and training as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of maintenance experience or graduate of Industrial Maintenance Training program
• Good interpersonal and communication skills are critical

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair equipment and assets following Tyson policies and procedures
• Provide troubleshooting and repair of mechanical malfunctions
• Lubricate equipment with grease and oils
• Perform preventive maintenance according to schedule
• Complete required paperwork and reports
• Respond to mechanical or electrical breakdowns and handle emergencies
• Follow lockout/tagout and all safety programs
• Work with other mechanics as needed
• Perform janitorial tasks if needed
• Work in varying temperatures and environments

Job Details

Maintenance Generalist are responsible for but not limited to:

• Troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all equipment and company assets while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.
• Provide troubleshooting and repair of any mechanical malfunction.
• Prepare written documentation of actions taken to correct equipment problems.
• Responds to mechanical or electrical breakdowns and handle emergency situations.
• Lubricate equipment with various grease and oils.
• Perform preventive maintenance according to schedule.
• Complete appropriate paperwork and reports.
• Must comply with lockout/ tagout, confined space, and all other safety programs.
• Must be able to perform mechanical and basic electrical trouble shooting and repairs.
• Able to perform diagnosis and repairs without supervision.
• Capable of starting all equipment before production startup and shutdown without supervision.
• Ability to assist with other mechanics as needed.
• Perform janitorial services if needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Work in temperature that will vary with outside ambient temperatures and humidity. It can be dusty, warm, and humid.
• Must be willing to complete all required training for the job and perform any other duties assigned.

Requirements

• Must have a minimum of 2 years of Maintenance experience or graduate of Industrial Maintenance Training program or combination of experience and education to meet the 2 year requirement. Must list job experience related to work history history, skills, and education information on application. Good interpersonal and communication skills are critical. This position will require standing, walking, bending, stretching, climbing, pushing, pulling, stooping and the ability to climb ladders. Position may involve heavy lifting 50-70 lbs. or more. Must be willing to work in damp, cold or hot environments, reach above shoulder level. Must be able to perform all duties of the position Be willing to stand 8- 10 hours a day. Must wear PPE, ear protection (plugs or muffs), hair net and beard guard. Must have or be able to obtain Tyson operator's license for pallet jack or forklift, if necessary. Ability to understand technical mechanical concepts. Excellent communication skills. Strong organization skills.

• The jobsite is a biosecure environment and could require showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility. Appropriate clothing and footwear is provided by the Company. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines. Will be trained to recognize and comply with all Safety procedures.
