Metalcraft of Mayville is looking for an experienced 3rd Shift Laser Operator to join our manufacturing team! In this role, you’ll operate laser cutting equipment, perform machine setups, de-nest and finish parts, and help ensure quality products are produced safely and efficiently in our fast-paced, just-in-time manufacturing environment. We’re looking for someone with a strong Laser or CNC background who is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and comfortable troubleshooting equipment and making adjustments to keep production moving. Responsibilities
- Set up and operate Bystronic and Mitsubishi CO2 Lasers
- Verify material type and thickness and load material into the laser stocker
- De-nest laser-cut parts and remove laser oxide as needed
- Inspect completed work to ensure parts meet quality specifications
- Complete assigned work according to established production and quality standards
- Identify and troubleshoot machine alignment and cutting condition issues
- Troubleshoot minor programming errors independently
- Apply a basic understanding of G and M codes
- Read and interpret blueprints and manufacturing documentation
- Cross-train on multiple laser platforms and manufacturing cells
- Enter production time and completed work into our computer data collection system
- Safely operate a forklift to move and handle materials
- Report and document material, production, and quality issues
- Maintain equipment performance logs and communicate maintenance needs
- Participate in operator-level preventative maintenance
- Assist with training other team members on laser setup and operation as needed
- Follow all company and plant safety procedures
- Assist in other production areas as needed
Qualifications
- Strong Laser and/or CNC machine operating experience
- High school diploma or GED required
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints
- Basic understanding of G and M codes
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to perform basic shop math
- Experience with dimensional measuring and the ability to use precision measurement tools
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to safely operate a forklift
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Self-motivated with a strong focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement
- Previous experience working in a highly technical manufacturing environment
- Mitsubishi Laser experience
- Experience operating an overhead crane
