Job summary

Metalcraft of Mayville, Inc. is seeking an experienced 3rd shift Laser Operator to join our manufacturing team.

You will set up and operate Bystronic and Mitsubishi CO2 lasers, de-nest parts, and ensure parts meet quality standards in a fast-paced, just-in-time environment. The ideal candidate has hands-on laser or CNC experience, reads blueprints, understands G and M codes, and can troubleshoot equipment while maintaining safety and production goals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience with laser or CNC machines and blueprints.
• Ability to read G and M codes and perform basic shop math.
• Strong attention to detail and safety emphasis.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate Bystronic and Mitsubishi CO2 lasers.
• Verify material type and thickness and load material into the laser stocker.
• De-nest laser-cut parts and remove oxide as needed.
• Inspect completed work to ensure parts meet quality specifications.
• Complete assigned work according to established production and quality standards.
• Identify and troubleshoot machine alignment and cutting condition issues.
• Troubleshoot minor programming errors independently.
• Apply a basic understanding of G and M codes.
• Read and interpret blueprints and manufacturing documentation.
• Cross-train on multiple laser platforms and manufacturing cells.
• Enter production time and completed work into our computer data collection system.
• Safely operate a forklift to move and handle materials.
• Report and document material, production, and quality issues.
• Maintain equipment performance logs and communicate maintenance needs.
• Participate in operator-level preventative maintenance.
• Assist with training other team members on laser setup and operation as needed.
• Follow all company and plant safety procedures.
• Assist in other production areas as needed

Metalcraft of Mayville is looking for an experienced 3rd Shift Laser Operator to join our manufacturing team!

In this role, you’ll operate laser cutting equipment, perform machine setups, de-nest and finish parts, and help ensure quality products are produced safely and efficiently in our fast-paced, just-in-time manufacturing environment.

We’re looking for someone with a strong Laser or CNC background who is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and comfortable troubleshooting equipment and making adjustments to keep production moving.

Qualifications

• Strong Laser and/or CNC machine operating experience

• High school diploma or GED required

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints

• Basic understanding of G and M codes

• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills

• Ability to perform basic shop math

• Experience with dimensional measuring and the ability to use precision measurement tools

• Basic computer skills

• Ability to safely operate a forklift

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work

• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team

• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills

• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

• Self-motivated with a strong focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement

• Previous experience working in a highly technical manufacturing environment

• Mitsubishi Laser experience

• Experience operating an overhead crane
