Job summary

Martinrea is seeking a Laser Operator for the 3rd shift to maintain and operate CNC laser equipment in a safe, efficient manner. The role requires independent work within a skeleton crew and adherence to production schedules and quality goals.

Responsibilities include machine set-up, training operators, logging paperwork, and following safety procedures; you must be able to meet demand in a fast-paced plant environment and lift up to 50lbs.

Qualifications

• High mechanical aptitude and understanding of mechanical and electrical procedures.
• Knowledge of lock out procedures.
• Ability to read drawings, blueprints, schematics and manuals.
• Ability to incorporate technical reports.
• Vast knowledge of laser equipment required.
• Able to use measurement tools.

Responsibilities

• Work in accordance with Health & Safety regulations, company rules and procedures.
• Wear protective equipment as required by the company.
• Ensure machine setup meets production and quality goals.
• Train and monitor operators in safe use of equipment.
• Maintain maximum machine efficiency and utilization.
• Physically maintain laser machines and equipment at Martinrea.
• Complete paperwork and logs before shift end.
• Follow lock out procedures and safety guidelines.
• Maintain Martinrea housekeeping standards.
• Be on call for emergencies.
• Carry out other duties as assigned by Supervisors/Managers.
• Adhere to company policies including Health & Safety, Quality & Environmental Systems, HR policies and Employee Handbook.

POSITION TITLE: Laser Operator (3rd Shift)

REPORTS TO: Industrial Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY: The function of the Laser Operator is to ensure that laser machine at Martinrea is maintained and in proper safe working order. Must be able to run CNC Laser. Schedule provided, must be able to meet demand. Skeleton Crew, must be able to work independently.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Must work in accordance with Health & Safety regulations, Company rules, policies and procedures

Must use or wear equipment, protective devices or clothing as required by the company

Ensure Machine Set-up meets production and quality goals

Training and monitoring of all operators in the correct and safe use of equipment

Ensure all machines are operating at maximum efficiency and utilization

Physically maintain laser machines and equipment at Martinrea

Must ensure all paperwork and logs are completed prior to shift end

Follow Machine Safety Guidelines, ensure proper lock out procedure are followed at all times

Maintain proper Martinrea housekeeping standards

On call for emergencies

All other duties as assigned by Supervisors and Managers

COMPETENCIES (Job Knowledge/Skill, Education and related experience)
