Job summary

EK is seeking a Laser Cutter Operator in Wisconsin. The role requires reading blueprints, selecting gas type, nozzle size and lens focus according to material thickness, and operating a computer controlled laser cutting machine. You will also inspect parts and maintain equipment on a daily/weekly basis.

The position involves creating inspection data, coordinating with production, and keeping a clean, organized work area to ensure quality and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Certificate from college or technical school required.
• 1–3 years related experience or training expected.
• High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Ability to read and interpret simple instructions and procedures.

Job description

Operates laser cutting machine by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Reads and interprets blueprints
• Determines gas type, nozzle size, and focus of lens based on material type and thickness.
• Sets up, adjusts, and operates a computer controlled laser cutting machine.
• Makes adjustments as needed.
• Creates inspection sheets.
• Inspects parts using precision measuring equipment and documents inspection data.
• Performs daily and weekly maintenance as it relates to laser cutting equipment.
• Programs using priority dispatch.
• Cleans and organizes work area.

Education And/Or Experience

One year certificate from college or technical school; 1-3 years related experience and/or training and a High School Diploma or GED; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and memos, as well as operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information one-on-one to other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
