Job summary

West Virginia K-12 Jobs is seeking mentors for Beginning Teacher Mentorship in West Virginia. The program is year-long, with mentors supporting beginning teachers and completing sessions in semester increments.

Preference for staff at the same school and subject/grade ensures continuity and relevance. Mentors must complete the WV State Department of Education mentor course before the mentorship concludes, with a Special nod to those holding the Master Mentor Teacher Advanced Credential.

Qualifications

• Must have or complete mentor training offered through WV State Department of Education.
• Preference for teachers at same school, teaching the same or similar subject and grade level.
• Mentor must have completed mentor training prior to or during the first semester of such assignment.
• Preference given to those teachers holding the Master Mentor Teacher Advanced Credential.

Responsibilities

• Mentor a Beginning Teacher for a year-long period in semester increments.
• Mentor assignment is made on a semester-to-semester basis pending placement.
• Provide guidance and support to ensure successful completion of mentorship.
