Job summary

CareerNerds, LLC in New York City is seeking a hands-on 3D Technical Designer for children’s apparel to develop and maintain fit and construction standards across the brand.

Work with design and production to create accurate spec packages, measure development samples, and lead fit sessions. Knowledge of knit and woven construction, patternmaking, and pattern/file preparation is essential; must be office-based 5 days a week.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years relevant experience in children's apparel.
• Experience with Browzwear 3D software or similar.
• Strong knowledge of knit and woven garment construction.
• Knowledge of patternmaking, sewing terminology and garment construction
• Proficient in Excel and MS Word; Illustrator a plus.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain fit and construction standards for brand consistency and quality.
• Create spec packages for each style including correct grade rules and non-standard construction details.
• Accurate measurement and evaluation of development, proto samples for spec, quality & workmanship.
• Prepare and lead fit sessions with Design and Production Depts.
• Communicate measurement, construction and workmanship comments to vendors with explanations and diagrams as needed.
• Work with Production and Compliance Depts to ensure all products meet children's safety requirements.
• Answer questions via email regarding fit, specs, pattern and construction as needed.
