Job summary

The Idaho State Police (ISP) has an opening for a Financial Specialist Senior in Meridian. This limited-service position performs advanced financial duties and oversees federal grants and cash management.

You will prepare financial documents, monitor grants, and train staff on grant responsibilities, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Responsibilities include budgeting support, grant reconciliation, and developing procedures to improve financial operations across ISP.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
• Experience developing and preparing financial documents.
• Experience using a computer to develop, analyze, and report on financial data.
• Experience analyzing financial activities and recommending management action.
• Experience managing federal grants or projects.

Responsibilities

• Manage and monitor federal grants within ISP.
• Monitor and manage cash balances.
• Work with program staff on budgeting and grant reconciliation.
• Submit DFM grant requests and monitor appropriations.
• Setup and manage project codes within LUMA.
• Communicate updates and policy changes to ISP staff.
• Train ISP staff on various financial duties and grant responsibilities.
• Prepare financial documents and complete federal reports.
• Prepare and explain documents of findings and conclusions concerning policies, procedures, and financial position of the agency.
• Update and develop processes and procedures.
• Analyze, research, and maintain financial data, develop financial documents, and resolve problems.

The Idaho State Police (ISP) has a current opening for a Financial Specialist Senior in Meridian. This is a limited-service position. This position will perform a full range of advanced professional financial duties requiring the application of accounting and/or auditing theory, principles, and practices. Additionally, this position will oversee ISP’s federal grants and cash management.

• Manage and monitor federal grants within ISP
• Monitor and manage cash balances
• Work with program staff on budgeting and grant reconciliation
• Submit DFM grant requests and monitor appropriations
• Setup and manage project codes within LUMA

Minimum Qualifications:

Good knowledge of:

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience using statewide Luma system
• Experience using Microsoft Excel, or equivalent spreadsheet software to perform complex financial functions.
• Knowledge of state budget processes
• Experience with federal grants and cash management
• Knowledge of account reconciliations
