Job summary

Altec is seeking a welder to support welding and assembly of aerial device manufacturing in Duluth, MN. The role specializes in preparing booms, welding with GMAW/FCAW, reading blueprints, and maintaining quality and safety standards.

You will fabricate, fit, and cut to blueprint specifications, operate shop tools, train coworkers, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Strong attention to detail and teamwork are essential for success at Altec.

Qualifications

• Read, write and comprehend in English.
• Experience with FCAW or GMAW welding processes is preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics and work orders.
• Basic computer knowledge and shop math proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Prep and grease aerial booms for assembly.
• Tap holes in metal and assemble parts for weld cells.
• Fabricate, fit and cut to blueprint standards.
• Perform GMAW and/or FCAW welding with various arc equipment.
• Inspect components for spec conformance and read schematics.
• Maintain safe work area and participate in continuous improvement.
• Cross-train and train new associates as needed.
