Job summary

Haco Culinary seeks a Wastewater DAF Technician to operate, monitor, and maintain the Dissolved Air Flotation system and related wastewater equipment. You will support compliance, plant efficiency, and safe discharge through sampling, chemical dosing, and routine maintenance.

The role requires mechanical aptitude, hands-on DAF experience, data collection, and adherence to safety and environmental regulations. Community maintenance teamwork is essential.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot pumps, valves, and rotating equipment.
• Ability to perform laboratory testing and interpret results for process control.
• Familiarity with PLC/HMI systems used for monitoring and adjustments.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor DAF systems to separate solids, oils, and grease.
• Inspect DAF units, pumps, valves, screens, and related machinery.
• Follow the Master Schedule for daily cleaning and checks of the DAF system.
• Adjust chemical feed systems (coagulants, flocculants, polymers) for optimal performance.
• Monitor EQ tank levels, flow rates, and system pressures.
• Collect samples and perform tests (pH, DO, turbidity, TSS, ammonia, BOD/CBOD).
• Maintain logs, inventories, and compliance documentation.
• Troubleshoot issues and coordinate with Maintenance leadership as needed.
• Coordinate sludge removal and ensure timely pickups.
• Ensure discharge meets city/state/permit requirements.
