Job summary

QPS Employment Group is seeking a Utility on 2nd shift in St. Louis, MO. The role involves operating fabrication equipment, loading and producing parts per work orders and blueprints, and maintaining safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Operate multiple types of fabrication equipment.
  • Load, operate and manufacture parts per orders and blueprints.
  • Complete work orders and paperwork.
  • Perform in-process inspection.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Follow safety and quality standards.
  • Assist with training team members.
  • Conduct routine machine maintenance.
  • Suggest production/process improvements.
  • Load and secure parts using clamps and wrenches.

QPS Employment Group has a great Utility position available at a company in St. Louis, MO. This is a 2nd shift position with the opportunity for hire.

Utility Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Operate multiple types of fabrication equipment.
  • Operates tools according to instructions, specifications, and standard charts.
  • Places and secures work pieces in proper machine table, holding device, or other appropriate surface using clamps and wrenches.
  • Load, operate and manufacture a variety of parts using various manufacturing equipment to make custom parts according to customer orders and instructions written on Work Orders and blueprints.
  • Complete project work as needed involving the assembly of parts that require the use of hand tools, paint accessories and mechanical devices.
  • Complete work order paperwork.
  • Perform in-process inspection according to standard procedures.
  • Maintain count and perform packaging duties as required.
  • Participate in cross training activities to become knowledgeable of equipment/process within the department.
  • Perform routine daily machine maintenance including cleaning up and lubrication.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Determine if tools are undamaged and in safe condition for use.
  • Make suggestions to improve production and order processing efficiency.
  • Assist with training other team members.
  • Follow safety rules and quality standards.
Utility Requirements:
  • Perform work independently with minimal defects.
  • Communicate with supervisor on work order priority.
  • Open to change due to emergency orders or fabrication of parts.
  • Very good math skills.
  • Ability to understand drawing and blueprints.
  • Ability to use basic measuring instruments.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed.
  • A High School Diploma or GED with prior hands on, vocational or job-related course work/training, or any similar combination of education and experience is required. Prior experience in a manufacturing industry is preferred.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to adjust focus.
