Job summary

Technique is seeking a 2nd Shift Tube Bending Technician at our Jackson, Michigan facility to operate, maintain, program, and set up CNC tube bending machinery and related equipment. The role requires strong blueprint reading, CAD/CAM familiarity, and the ability to work independently while following directions.

Ideal candidates have 1 year of related machine operating experience in metal forming, with 2+ years in metal fabrication or machining preferred, and a proven ability to read

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of related machine operating experience in a metal forming operation.
• At least 2 years of experience in a solid metal fabrication/machining environment, preferably within advanced manufacturing.
• Manual or CNC tube bending experience highly desired.
• Must be able to read and interpret blueprints.
• Proficient in using measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers) to inspect own work per specs.
• Basic CAD/CAM training/knowledge a plus.
• Manual machining experience (drill press, mill, lathe, grinder) used in tooling maintenance a plus.
• Ability to frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.
• Shift is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing.
• Vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth, and focus adjustment.
• Manufacturing environment with exposure to fumes/particles, chemicals, moving parts, equipment, vibration, and loud noise.
• No travel; must be eligible to work in the United States; E-Verify partner employer

Responsibilities

• Start up and shut down benders and run configured benders.
• Maintain bender tooling—clean, store, and perform weekly maintenance.
• Read blueprints and set up parts; fixture them accurately.
• Understand part geometry in relation to X, Y, Z coordinates and centerline radius.
• Create part inspection programs by importing coordinates and tolerances.
• Inspect parts by recalling programs and verifying against specs.
• Check drop dimensions on prints using basic quality tools and fixtures.
• Operate cold and chop saws to cut blanks.
• Operate the I/O End Former.
• Work independently, following directions.
• Set up, program, and develop single-stack tool jobs on the BLM bender unassisted.
