Job summary

Central States Manufacturing, Inc. in Hartford, SD is seeking a Temporary Technician on 2nd shift for loading operations. The role supports manufacturing, material handling, and quality activities across multiple areas, following safety procedures and PPE requirements.

The technician will assist with setup and operation of workstations, perform material handling duties, monitor machine output, and help with basic troubleshooting. Training will cover equipment, safety, and quality standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in manufacturing, assembly, or fabrication.
• Experience with hand tools, power tools, or production equipment.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and knowledge of lean manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Support manufacturing, production, material handling, and quality-related activities across multiple production areas.
• Follow all plant safety procedures and wear required PPE; help maintain safety, environmental, and quality standards.
• Assist setup and operation of workstations, including loading, catching, trimming, wrapping, banding, assembly, and roll-forming tasks.
• Perform material handling duties such as loading raw materials, catching finished goods, stacking products, and moving materials.
• Assist Operators by monitoring machine output, reporting issues promptly, and helping with basic troubleshooting.
• Complete production tasks using hand tools, power tools, and other fabrication-related equipment.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, including end-of-shift housekeeping duties.
• Train new hires on equipment, procedures, safety, and quality standards.
• Ensure Quality Control is performed at each work center based on QC standards and customer feedback.
• Cross-train and perform duties in multiple production areas as needed.
