Job summary

Wieland North America, Inc. in Wheeling, IL is seeking a Strapping Line Operator to safely operate the Strapping Line in the Finishing Department, meeting daily priorities using the Wieland Factory Suite (WFS).

This on-site role emphasizes safety, quality, and teamwork in a heavy metals environment. The position offers 2nd shift from 2 PM to 10 PM, with $21–$23 hourly pay, a $0.50/hr shift differential, and biweekly pay.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in heavy metals or similar manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Ability to read calipers, micrometers and other testing equipment.

Responsibilities

• Work independently and as part of a safety‑mocused team.
• Perform routine area inspections and housekeeping.
• Review orders in WFS, prioritize and document work orders.
• Operate the strapping line and crane to load coils correctly.
• Set parameters on the control panel and run the machine.
• Monitor quality and apply spacers or packaging as required.
• Label material and ensure correct weight entries in WFS.
• Ensure correct material is loaded to meet customer specs.
• Maintain 5S/6S and support continuous improvement.
