Job summary

Nemours Children's Hospital in Orlando, FL seeks a 2nd SHIFT Sterile Processing Technician to join the Central Service team. The role focuses on decontamination, sterilization, and assembly of surgical instruments, with duties including case cart preparation and maintaining sterilization records.

The candidate should have a high school diploma and SPD experience (or SPD certification). Must attain Sterile Processing Certification within two years of hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Must have SPD experience (min 6 months) or SPD certification.
• Must attain HSPA or equivalent Sterile Processing Certification within two years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Operates sterilizers and related equipment (gas plasma, steam, washers) per manufacturer specs.
• Maintains records of sterilization processes and parameters.
• Performs biological and chemical monitoring tests on sterilizers per policy and standards.
• Rotates through preparation of operating room case carts and inspects sterilized packages for integrity.
• Assembles instrument trays and ensures correct placement of indicators for sterilizer type.
• Adheres to AAMI, AORN, OSHA, and JCAHO regulations in Central Service.
