Job summary

Nemours Children's Hospital in Orlando, FL is seeking a 2nd SHIFT SPD Technician to join our Central Sterile Processing team. You will operate sterilizers, monitor cycles, and prepare operating room carts, ensuring sterile technique and compliance with AAMI and hospital policies.

The role requires a High School Diploma and SPD experience or certification. You must attain sterilization certification within two years and may be eligible for relocation assistance.

Qualifications

• Must have SPD experience (minimum 6 months) or have completed an SPD certification course from an accredited institution.
• Must attain HSPA or equivalent Sterile Processing Certification within two years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Operates peracetic acid (gas plasma) sterilizers, pre-vacuum and gravity steam sterilizers, washer/disinfectors, scope washers, ultrasonic cleaner, cart washer, pasteurmatic and dryer.
• Maintains accurate records of the sterilization processes and parameters.
• Regulates and adjusts sterilization parameters for cycle selection, pressure, time and temperature.
• Performs biological and chemical monitoring tests on all sterilizers and records results.
• Prepares operating room surgical case carts and inspects sterilized packages for damage or wet packs.
• Assembles and performs quality control checks for instrument trays using current count sheets and indicators.
• Identifies medical and surgical supplies and monitors inventory for cost-effective use.
• Adheres to AAMI, AORN, OSHA and JCAHO regulations related to Central Service.
• Promotes safety and cleanliness in the work area with proper PPE and universal precautions.
