Job summary
Nemours Children's Health in Orlando, FL, is seeking a 2nd shift SPD Technician to join the Sterile Processing team at Nemours Children's Hospital. You will decontaminate, sterilize, and assemble reusable surgical instruments, rotate through case cart prep, and ensure instruments meet safety standards.
The role requires a High School Diploma and SPD experience or certification, with a commitment to obtaining HSPA certification within two years.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma required.
- SPD experience or SPD certification from an accredited institution.
- Must attain HSPA or equivalent Sterile Processing Certification within two years of hire.
Responsibilities
- Operates peracetic acid (gas plasma) Sterrad sterilizers and steam sterilizers per manufacturer specs.
- Maintains accurate records of sterilization cycles and parameters.
- Regulates cycle parameters and performs biological/chemical monitoring tests.
- Rotates through case cart preparation and inspects sterilized packages for damage.
- Assembles instrument trays and ensures correct indicators for sterilizer type.
- Adheres to AAMI, AORN, OSHA, and JCAHO regulations.
