Job summary

Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital is seeking a Sterile Processing Tech II for the St. Petersburg area. This full-time position requires handling the sterilization workflow from decontamination through packaging and distribution of instrument trays for surgical case carts, aligned with surgeon preferences.

The role emphasizes infection control, record-keeping, and supporting the SPD team under supervision. A high school diploma and SPD readiness or national certification are required, with 1+ year

Qualifications

Minimum one year of experience in sterile processing or nine months with SPD certification/Readiness Course.
Must maintain CEUs per certifying body.
First-year completion of SPD Readiness Course or national certification (HSPA/CBSPD).

Responsibilities

Ensure sterilization processes from decontamination to distribution of instrument trays.
Maintain daily records and monitor sterilization equipment and chemicals.
Assist in precepting new team members and support SPD Supervisor/Operations Specialist.
Distribute instrument trays per surgery schedule, pick lists, and surgeon’s preference cards.
Uphold infection control standards and a safe environment for staff and patients.
