Job summary

Huntington Ingalls Industries’ Newport News Shipbuilding is seeking a Foreman to supervise and coordinate trades personnel on the 2nd shift. The role emphasizes adherence to drawings and procedures, along with ensuring quality, safety and productive operations in a high-stakes shipbuilding environment.

The position offers a $5,000 sign-on bonus for eligible candidates and requires experience in manufacturing or shipyard settings.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree, Apprentice Certification, High School with 4 years related experience, or Associate Degree with 3 years of relevant manufacturing, shipbuilding, trade and/or military experience.
Experience in manufacturing or shipbuilding environment is preferred.
Ability to supervise semi-skilled and skilled trades personnel and coordinate their work.
Familiarity with drawings, procedures and quality controls is required.

Responsibilities

Supervises, assigns, coordinates and evaluates semi-skilled and skilled trades personnel according to their skill, experience and job knowledge.
Supervises and trains employees to improve quality and productivity and recommends training for skill enhancement.
Translates broad strategies into actionable plans and ensures training is delivered to perform those plans.
Responsible for manufacturing, installation, operation, testing and process controls with significant financial impact; monitors budget and shifts performance.
