Job summary

TriMas Company LLC in Longview, TX is seeking a 2nd Shift Saw Operator. The role supports the manufacturing team, focusing on saw operation, inspection and material flow in spinning, fabrication and finishing areas.

You will read blueprints and job orders, set up fixtures, program and monitor machines or robotics, and ensure parts meet specifications. A forklift license is required; overtime and safety are essential.

Responsibilities

• Operate saw equipment and maintain safe, clean work areas.
• Assist in material flow across spinning and other departments.
• Evaluate non-conforming parts for downgrading or scrapping.
• Set up fixtures, run cycles, and verify product specifications.
• Program and operate CNC machines and robotics where applicable.
• Direct robot flow and maintain documentation of production reports.
• Maintain forklift operations and adhere to safety requirements.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE: To perform a variety of operational functions that constitute the production, inspection and distribution of products or services for our customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• 1. Willingness to perform routine PM and maintain housekeeping in work cell.
• 2. Operator will assist in material flow of the Spinning and other departments.
• 3. Will be responsible to evaluate non-conforming parts to determine downgrading or scrapping of parts.
• 4. Willingness to work as a team member in both Fabrication and Finishing areas.
• 5. Willingness to work overtime when needed.
• 6. Ability to use hand tools and ability to complete written reports.
• 7. Knowledge of work instructions.

SPECFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• 1. Ability to check blueprint drawings or job order for product specifications such as dimensions and tolerances, and tooling instructions such as fixtures, feed rates, and determines sequence of operations.
• 2. Ability to set up fixture of feeding device, start machine, and start spin cycle.
• 3. Observes operation of machine and verifies conformance of work piece to design specifications and quality standards.
• 4. Ability to modify program using a Windows based environment to manufacture per product specifications.
• 5. Ability to verify programs prior to release for production.
• 6. Ability to set up, program and operate Computer programmed machines and robotics. Programming and Robotics experience a plus.
• 7. Ability to direct flow and temperature of torch to work piece.
• 8. Ability to operate, saw, and identify billet cup by size and symbol.
• 9. Ability to visually inspect all cut parts for defects, dents, nicks, scratches and off square cuts and ability to maintain counts on cut parts.
• 10. Ability to make adjustments to robots to maintain a smooth flow of processes and products.
• 11. Job will require a forklift license.

• Accomplishes all tasks as appropriately assigned or requested for successful completion of the mission of Norris Cylinder.

Qualifications

• Experience, Competencies and Education: Must possess an education or experience level that permits the employee to effectively communicate and perform duties, assignments and responsibilities of the job.

• Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic mathematical equations.
