Job summary

Wieland is seeking a 2nd Shift Rolling Operator in Waterbury, CT to safely operate Sendzimir Z-mills and monitor process parameters to meet specifications. The role is fully on-site with a 2nd shift schedule (3:00 pm - 11:00 pm) and a starting hourly pay range of $30.20 to $32.20 plus a $0.40 shift differential.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of rolling mill experience, strong math, and familiarity with micrometers and calipers.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and write English and maintain production records.
• Reliable employment history with above-average attendance.
• HS diploma or equivalent required.
• 3–5 years experience running Sendzimir Z-mill or related rolling machinery.
• Ability to perform simple math.
• Familiarity with micrometers and calipers.
• Excellent decision-making and organizational skills.
• Mechanically inclined; comfortable with small hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Comply with all safety rules and regulations.
• Follow PPE and JSP documents.
• Read, understand and follow all Work Instructions for the equipment.
• Detect and report faulty operations, improper material and unusual conditions.
• Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition.
• Set up and operate Sendzimir Z-mills; monitor material and machine parameters to ensure specs.
• Determine proper roll combinations to achieve desired shape and surface finish.
• Use gauges, indicators, and controls to operate machine and check product.
• Check material for gauge, finish, or properties and coordinate with metrology lab to meet specs.
• Move material to/from machine using forklifts, transporters, cranes, pallet jacks.
• Direct the work of mill helpers to maximize uptime, quality and productivity.
• Operate rewind equipment, steel sleeves, and mill block.
• Perform light maintenance on machines (changing/cleaning rolls, bearings).
• Perform other duties or flex to other plant areas as required.
