Job summary

Chicago Tube and Iron Company seeks a Production Assistant - 2nd Shift in Romeoville, IL. The role supports CNC laser operations, reads blueprints, and ensures parts meet prints and specs. You will move, inspect, and package finished goods while maintaining a clean, safe shop floor.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma with 2–5 years in manufacturing, basic computer skills, and the ability to lift up to 60 pounds. PPE is required, and exposure to noise and extreme temperatures is expected.

Qualifications

• High School education is required; technical training preferred.
• 2–5 years in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read blueprints, caliper and tape measure.
• Basic computer skills adequate for job tasks.
• Position involves production with risk of injury; PPE required.
• Standing 8–10 hours, lifting up to 60 pounds, exposure to noise and vibration.

Responsibilities

• Monitor CNC laser equipment and inspect parts for quality.
• Follow work orders to set up equipment and produce quality parts.
• Lift and package finished goods per packaging instructions.
• Perform light maintenance under supervision.
• Maintain a clean workspace across the work center.
• Record material consumption and returns in ERP systems.
• Support shift handoff with updates on production issues.
• Load/unload raw material using overhead cranes.
• Inform material handlers of upcoming raw material needs.
