Job summary

Challenge Manufacturing is seeking a 2nd Shift Production Operator for our Walker, MI plant. The role involves operating resistance spot welders and power presses to assemble metal components for automotive applications. You will ensure quality, maintain clean work areas, and complete required paperwork to track production flow.

We require candidates to be at least 18, able to stand 8–10 hours, and able to read, write, and understand English. A High School Diploma or GED is required.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Able to stand for 8–10 hours a day and be physically capable of performing the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English at a level sufficient to safely perform job duties, including following work instructions and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate resistance spot welders and/or power press to weld, trim, punch, shape, notch, draw or crimp metal stock.
• Inspect parts for conformance to specifications and discuss non-conformances with a team leader or quality inspector.
• Maintain housekeeping in personal work area and shared spaces; complete appropriate paperwork and tagging to track product flow.
• Start press and observe operation to detect misalignment or malfunction; move between stations as needed.
