Job description

Job Overview

The Production Scheduler is responsible for scheduling, generating, and processing production orders across assigned departments, in coordination with the Supervisor of Production Control. This includes monitoring schedules, capacity reports, status reports, and other relevant sources of information.

The role also involves expediting purchase and manufacturing items to support timely production, assembly, and shipping schedules to customers and sister plants. Additionally, the scheduler supports inventory accuracy initiatives.

Scope

The production scheduler manages 2,500-5,000 production orders annually for 700-800 items. They oversee in-house inventory valued between $3.0M and $6.5M, supporting 6 to 15 manufacturing cells with up to 45 staff. Responsibilities include executing picking plans for assembling up to 4 models or fulfilling component sales worth $12M-$15M annually.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Using system reports to plan and execute picking schedules for outbound advice supporting in-house manufacturing and sales orders.
  • Expediting materials based on shortage and at-risk reports to meet production and shipping deadlines.
  • Monitoring production and inventory status reports to ensure operational continuity; reporting issues to supervisors and providing material availability updates.
  • Maintaining system parameters related to items, BOMs, and material distribution.
  • Arranging replacements or repairs for defect notices from inspectors.
  • Providing replacements for missing or incorrectly picked items for assembly or production.
  • Participating in new employee orientation and training.
  • Performing other clerical tasks as assigned by supervision.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum five years’ experience in production control, inventory control, or operating systems.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency with personal computers, with desirable knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines during high-stress periods.
Additional Information

The role offers a salary between $45,440 and $56,800, with actual compensation based on experience and other factors.
