Job summary

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) in San Diego, CA, is seeking a skilled fabrication technician to operate light-duty bench and floor-type machine tools to manufacture machined parts.

Under supervision with detailed instructions on new activities, you will set up and fabricate parts, inspect dimensions per blueprints, and support quality control while maintaining a safe work environment on the 2nd shift (3pm–12:30 am).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or technical/trade school training or equivalent.
• Ability to read and understand engineering blueprints.
• Good interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with office software.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Flexibility to work extended hours as required.
• Customer-focused with attention to quality.

Responsibilities

• Operates drill presses, lathes, mills, saws and shears.
• Cleans machines and work area; deburrs parts.
• Performs kitting of production tools, fixtures and raw material.
• Operates machines after instructions; inspects parts using blueprints.
• Monitors quality with statistical process control.
• Prepares and saw cuts raw materials.
• May layout, fabricate and assemble components.
• Adheres to laws and company procedures.
• Works safely according to procedures.
• Additional duties as assigned.
