Central Garden & Pet/Kaytee is currently looking for a 2nd Shift Pellet Machine Operator to join our team at Kaytee in Chilton, WI. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up and operating Pelletmill /Hammermill Equipment and the Bagging Line.

Key Responsibilities
  • Start machines and monitor operation to detect malfunctions; make adjustments or repairs as needed while assisting in manufacturing processes.
  • Enter production codes into batching computer (Repete), set up machines, prepare dating equipment, and ensure proper operation of bags and tape.
  • Complete production work orders, move and wrap pallets, verify correct counts, and record completion.
  • Inspect bags for quality, including sewing, ribbon integrity, and correct code dating and ID.
  • Test product weights and visually check for proper product mix.
  • Mark pallets for proper destination.
  • Assemble hand-add barrels with correct vitamins/minerals and prepare them in advance as needed.
  • Follow all quality and food safety protocols in accordance with FSMA, USDA, and SQF standards, including obtaining a PCQI certificate.
  • Adhere to all safety initiatives in line with OSHA standards.

  • Ability to lift over 50 pounds frequently, with bending, lifting, and twisting.
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
  • High school diploma preferred.
  • Effective communication skills to promote teamwork.
  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and prioritize work orders.
  • Good organizational skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at heights.

Working Conditions
